40 years of history in the center of Bilbao
The Basque Bar is opened by Julio García Alonso who, halfway through the 50s, decides to move to Venezuela looking for new job opportunities. It is in Venezuela where he will buy a bar at the Plaza de la Candelaria called Basque. Several years after living en Caracas, he decides to return to Bilbao and reopens his bar in Ledesma St. number 18. Here is where his story begins.
Since 1976, the Basque Bar is located in Astarloa St. number 3, in the center of Bilba. From there, the son of Julio García works and still offers the best drinks of the city.
The perfect place to have a drink
This bar has become a reference in Bilbao, where different generations meet. During the day, you can enjoy amazing pintxos. They also offer cold tapas such as Iberian Bellota ham, Gran Reserva Cheese, Cantabrian Anchovies, Ventresca de bonito, Smoked Tuna and Caviar.
