Getxo has shopping areas so you can take a special memory of your visit. From traditional places with typical products, to the most modern shops and the latest trends…

The most popular areas are:

Las Arenas- Romo:

The center of Las Arenas – Areeta brings together several streets where you can find design, decoration and fashion stores. Its boutiques and small gourmet product stores with traditional Basque products are famous.

Algorta:

The Algorta Food Market is a point of reference to find fresh products just arrived from the garden of the small farmers of the town and high quality fish and meats.

It is located on Calle Torrene street, beside the Post Office.

As in Las Arenas, in the downtown area of Algorta and the streets adjacent to the Market there are a large number of shops where you can find all kinds of products and services that you may need during your visit to Getxo.

The Algorta market has a curious history that dates back to its construction in 1940. During the civil war, it served as a refuge as it was one of the few concrete constructions in the municipality. The inhabitants of Getxo took refuge in their basement every time the air-raid warning sirens sounded.

In 2001, it was renovated following the same architectural criteria (rationalist style) as before, but adapting it to the new times.

Market hours: Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
