Manuel Calvo y Aguirre, a native of Portugalete, made his fortune in Havana in the mid-19th century thanks to his sugar cane businesses. He returned to Portugalete in 1898 and settled in the mansion that is now home to the Puente Colgante Boutique Hotel.

In 2019, this iconic hotel in the town of Portugalete underwent a full renovation, completely transforming all of its facilities.

The hotel now honors the story of its founder through a modern colonial décor, while preserving its original façade and paying tribute to its heritage.

As a Boutique Hotel, it now offers a renewed range of services for the enjoyment of guests, locals, and visitors alike.

The 74 rooms, many with views of the Estuary and the Bridge, include 4 junior suites and 70 double rooms.
