La Baskula
An Extraordinary Fusion
What happens when the best Basque products meet the best Catalan ones?
Barcelona-born Ramon Ràfols went from being a distributor of gourmet food brands to opening his own place, together with his partner Jurgi Breton — a lifelong fishmonger from Bakio (Matxitxako fish shops) and an anchovy expert (he recently launched his own workshop and brand).
Thanks to this extraordinary Catalonia–Basque Country fusion, La Baskula was born in the summer of 2019, right on Bakio beach: a small, casual, laid-back… and slightly cheeky restaurant. Offering simple, high-quality food — and dishes that will truly blow you away!
La Baskula’s Philosophy
Simplicity and Quality
A short but distinctive menu, featuring the finest seasonal ingredients and products from small-scale producers — most of them organic — all without outrageous prices. With unexpected touches to avoid routine and keep you surprised.
You won’t know what to order
Everything is delicious, so we recommend letting the team guide you.
A good idea is to share the starters, and then choose a main dish just for yourself!
You could try some grilled chicken wings with a spicy kick, salt-cured anchovies from Bakio, or their jamón croquettes, among other options.
For starters, they serve mouth-watering dishes like truffled burrata salad, their own take on steak tartare, beet hummus, or vegetable tempura.
Then comes the serious part — fresh fish delivered daily straight from the coast, or the finest meat. Let yourself be surprised by what’s on offer that day!
And the desserts are absolutely wild. Of course, you’ll find the spectacular Crema Catalana, but also apple tart with ice cream, or their famous baked blue cheese cheesecake.
