The History of Massarrat

Alfombras Orientales Massarrat was founded by the Massarrat family, originally from Iran and settled in Bilbao since 1975.

The late Ruhollah Massarrat, together with his sons Pedjman and Vafa, began this journey in 1972 in Madrid.

In 1975, his sons moved to Bilbao to study Medicine, and little by little, as professors and classmates started requesting them, they began selling rugs that they stored in their home, exhibiting them at various locations.

In 1985, they rented a shop space on Bilbao’s Gran Vía, and in 1988, they managed to open their own store and expand it to its current location.
