El Puertito is the first “oyster bar” in Bilbao.
It all began on Maestro García Rivero Street, a famous spot for pintxos and bar-hopping in the Indautxu neighborhood.
El Puertito focuses on offering over eight varieties of oysters at reasonable prices, available to order individually.
The oysters arrive daily from France, Ireland, the Netherlands, and different regions of Spain, ensuring maximum freshness.
Today, it is the go-to place in Bilbao for enjoying high-quality oysters in a casual setting.

El Puertito is a meeting point for oyster lovers and those who enjoy a lively atmosphere. The decor is inspired by the oyster farmers’ huts of Cap Ferret, France.
Inaz Fernández was a visionary.
Thanks to him, oyster consumption became popular again in Bilbao. He stripped oysters of their luxury-only status by offering market prices in an informal environment. His motto: “I want everyone to be able to afford oysters.”
Inaz Fernández has loved oysters since childhood. He explains: “Many years ago, oysters were part of Bilbao’s daily life, but the habit had faded. Few places offered them, and they were usually expensive. I took inspiration from French and Anglo-Saxon models and adapted them to Bilbao’s character. What makes me proudest is having given so many people the chance to try oysters.”
